Kaleido Inspire Publishing, LLC (“Kaleido Inspire,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information when you visit our website, purchase our products, communicate with us, submit materials for publishing consideration, or otherwise interact with Kaleido Inspire and our website and services (collectively, the “Services”).
Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us.
Information you provide directly. We may collect information you voluntarily provide to us, including your name, email address, telephone number when provided, billing and shipping information, order information, customer-service communications, reviews, messages, form responses, and other information you choose to provide.
Payment information may be processed directly by Shopify or other payment-service providers. We do not necessarily receive or store complete payment-card information.
Information collected automatically. When you visit or interact with our website, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information through cookies, pixels, log files, and similar technologies. This may include your IP address, browser and device information, general location derived from your IP address, pages viewed, referring sources, dates and times of visits, shopping activity, website interactions, and advertising or marketing interactions.
Author and Publishing Submissions
If you submit a storybook, activity book, manuscript, concept, or other project to Kaleido Inspire for publishing consideration, we may collect information and materials including:
- Your name and email address
- Book title and intended age range
- Project stage
- Book description, synopsis, concept, genre, or theme
- Approximate word count or page count
- Information concerning illustrations, activities, series, supplies, or project development
- Manuscripts and sample pages
- Illustrations, artwork, activity pages, and worksheets
- Supporting documents and uploaded files
- Other information or creative materials you voluntarily provide
We use this information and these materials to receive, organize, review, evaluate, and administer publishing submissions; determine whether a project may be suitable for our publishing program; maintain appropriate business records; and communicate with submitters.
Submitting creative materials does not, by itself, transfer ownership of those materials to Kaleido Inspire. Additional provisions governing submissions are contained in our Author Submission Guidelines and Terms.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in your submission unless it is reasonably necessary for our consideration of your project.
How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to provide and operate our Services; process and fulfill orders; process transactions; communicate about purchases; provide customer service; respond to questions and requests; receive and evaluate author submissions; communicate with authors and creators; maintain business and submission records; improve our website, products, publishing program, and customer experience; perform analytics; prevent and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents; comply with legal obligations; enforce our agreements and policies; and conduct marketing and advertising where permitted by law.
We may also use information for other purposes disclosed to you when the information is collected or with your consent.
Shopify and Shopify Network Intelligence
Our store is hosted by Shopify, which provides technology and services that allow us to operate our online store, website features, forms, transactions, and related Services.
When you visit, browse, make a purchase from, or otherwise interact with our store, Shopify collects and processes personal information in connection with providing its services to us.
We currently use Shopify Network Intelligence. When this feature is enabled, Shopify may securely use information concerning customer interactions with our store together with information from interactions with Shopify and other Shopify merchants to provide and improve services and features. These may include services designed to provide more personalized experiences, improve store performance, understand interactions with stores and advertisements, prevent fraud, and provide more relevant advertising.
Information may therefore be shared with Shopify and other service providers, including parties located in countries other than your own, as necessary to provide these services.
No other Shopify merchant is given access to our customer data through Shopify Network Intelligence. Shopify states that Network Intelligence uses customer data together with other Shopify data to power Enhanced Services while other merchants cannot access a merchant's data. Shopify Help Center

Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our service providers, including Shopify, may use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website, remember preferences, perform analytics, understand website usage, maintain security, personalize experiences, and support advertising and marketing.

Your browser may also permit you to block or delete cookies. Blocking certain technologies may affect the functionality of portions of our website.

If you choose to receive marketing communications from us, we may use your contact information to send promotional or informational communications.
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe option included in those communications.
Submitting an Author Submission form does not, by itself, subscribe you to marketing communications.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to service providers and other parties when reasonably necessary to operate our business, including Shopify; payment processors; shipping and fulfillment providers; technology, hosting, analytics, communications, security, marketing, and advertising providers; and professional advisers such as attorneys, accountants, or consultants.
We may also disclose information when required by law; when reasonably necessary to protect our rights, safety, property, customers, or others; in connection with legal proceedings; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar business transaction.
We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent.
Author Submission Confidentiality
We understand that author submissions may contain unpublished creative work.
We use submitted materials for purposes reasonably related to receiving, reviewing, evaluating, administering, documenting, and communicating about potential publishing projects and related business and legal activities.
However, submission through our website does not create a confidentiality or nondisclosure obligation on the part of Kaleido Inspire unless we have separately agreed to such an obligation in writing.
Our Author Submission Guidelines and Terms contain additional provisions governing submitted creative materials.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and for legitimate business purposes, including providing Services, maintaining transaction and business records, administering publishing submissions, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, maintaining security, and satisfying applicable legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory requirements.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected.
Author submission information and materials may be retained for a reasonable period after review, including where appropriate to maintain records of projects previously submitted or considered.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information in our possession or control.
However, no website, electronic transmission, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Our books and products are created for children and families; however, our online store, website forms, purchasing functions, and Author Submission program are intended for use by adults.
We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from children in violation of applicable law.

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to exceptions under applicable law.
